Deadline to Get Health Insurance Through Affordable Care Act Fast Approaching

The deadline to apply for coverage under the Affordable Care Act is fast-approaching, even though lawmakers allowed Marylanders an extra week to sign up.

You can sign up for health insurance through Maryland Health Connection, DC Health Link or, if you’re a Virginia resident, Healthcare.gov.

Applying for health insurance and finding the right plan can be a lengthy process. Make it easier by having documents and information ready before you start your application, including social security numbers, tax documents, current insurance information and W-2s.

Here’s what you need to know about upcoming deadlines in Maryland, Virginia and D.C.

Maryland

Marylanders have until Dec. 22 to sign up for health insurance through the Maryland Health Connection exchange. You can apply online from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. There are resources if you would like help applying in-person or over the phone.
