Qatar- Senator expresses satisfaction with universal health law draft

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Senator Joseph Victor 'JV Ejercito was delighted over the completion of 'preliminaries in the drafting of the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the Universal Health Care Law (UHC).
Ejercito, who earned the nickname 'Mr Healthcare for spearheading the UHC, disclosed that discussions on four main components of the law had been completed at the
Technical Working Group level. These are local health systems, health financing, governance, and regulations and service delivery.
'I am happy because things are going well in the drafting of the IRR. As soon as the document is finished and the law is operational, our people will finally be freed from financial stress when seeking primary, curative and palliative services, he said in a statement. 'I hope we can have the IRR by June or July at the latest.
The next stage is the consolidation of the components and refinement of the final draft for approval of the Department of Health and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp.
'Then, the IRR will be published, and that's it. The people will be able to enjoy the Universal Health Care that we worked on, Ejercito said.
President Rodrigo Duterte signed into law Republic Act 11223, otherwise known as 'Universal Health Care Act, in February.
The law ensures that all Filipinos will have access to quality and affordable healthcare.
'Under the UHC, check-ups and selected laboratory tests are free. Filipinos are automatically covered by National Health Insurance Programme and medication is cheaper and primary care is stronger, Ejercito said.
