SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – New England Barber Academy will be hosting a grand opening celebration for their new Springfield location on Saturday.

The New England Barber Academy is a full-time and part-time Barber School and is passionate about providing high-quality education and training for barbers, according to its website.

According to the City of Springfield, this is the first barber academy of its type in the city. There are only two other locations that are close by, Hartford and Worcester.

Mayor Domenic Sarno of Springfield will join the owner/master barber at Bentleys Barbershop and manager of New England Barber Academy Evan Nyman at the grand opening ceremony at their new location on Boston Road at 12:30 p.m. Mayor Sarno states, “This is a great addition to the City of Springfield. My late father Al “The Barber” Sarno, being a long-time barber had to go to Hartford, CT, for barber school many years ago. I would like to thank New England Barber Academy for choosing Springfield for their new academy. It will open doors for our citizens, and those of the Pioneer Valley to get the proper training to become barbers.”
