Healthcare Administrative Technology Association (HATA) Finalizes Criteria for New Certified Healthcare Administrative Technology (CHAT) Certification

New certification establishes baseline criteria for Practice Management System (PMS) software

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif., May 23, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Healthcare Administrative Technology Association (HATA), the national association representing the practice management software (PMS) industry, met recently to finalize the criteria of a new certification for PMS vendors. The Certified Healthcare Administrative Technology (CHAT) certification provides the industry with assurance of a PMS vendor’s software through its review of approximately 75 elements under nine (9) criteria categories.

The nine (9) criteria includes:  Integration Technology Stack, Security Architecture, Privacy and Security, EDI Transactions, Registration, Scheduling, Revenue Cycle functionality, Reporting Data Analytics and Software Development Lifecycle.

“Being CHAT certified will be a market differentiator,” said HATA Executive Director Tim McMullen, JD, CAE. “Systems that are CHAT certified will give providers the confidence in knowing their current vendor meets or exceeds the standard elements of functionality and they will be asking their PMS vendors to be CHAT certified.”

Final roll-out of the certification program is expected in Q4 of 2018.
